Shala River is one of the most beautiful destinations in Albania. Reachable only by boat and surrounded by mountains, this river is a perfect getaway for those who want to get rid of the mobile connection. The source of this river is in the Albanian Alps. The hazy color of water and its crystal clear water is characteristic of this river. The steep huge rocks, worn by trees and green plants, seem to rise to the sky to protect this beauty that so generously mother nature has offered to our eyes and hearts. What the Shala’s River offers can not be described in words, therefore small boats for all you who want to visit this wonderful place have made available, every day, small boats. From June- to October

Itinerary

Start early in the morning from Tirana. We will stop for a short break at Restaurant Perla by the Lake, a beautiful and tranquil setting. Drive to Komani Dam It was formed when the rugged Drini valley was dammed in the early 1970s, allowing Albania to quickly develop its industrial base and become an energy exporter. At 10:00 we get on a small local boat. We start the boat trip that will take us through Komani Lake offering spectacular views of the Albanian Alps, waterfalls, rural villages, and wild forests. The way to Shala river is 1h 30 min by boat and the same time back. Last but not least, if you are brave enough, don’t forget to bring your swimming suits with you as some of us will dare to swim in this paradise. We get back on the boat to Komani Damn at around 05:00 pm. From here we drive back to Tirana after a long but unforgettable experience.
